While many tribes of Chinookan peoples live along the Columbia River, from it’s mouth east to around The Dalles in what is now Oregon the Chinook Indian Nation is comprised of the 5 Chinookan tribes nearest the mouth of the river. The Clatsop and Cathlament on the south side of the river and the Lower Chinook, Willapa and Wahkiakum on the north side of the river.
