First Salmon Ceremony

the First Salmon arrives

A Columbia River Spring Salmon arrives and is prepared at the Chinook Nation’s Annual Salmon Ceremony at Chinook Point.

feeding the First SalmonYouth at the Nation’s First Salmon Ceremony participate by feeding salmon berries to the honored first salmon. Placing salmon berries in the mouth of these first fish is part of the ritual treatment of the fish and assures a good catch and a strong return. A recognized Chinook Indian Nation will assure healthier natural resources in our aboriginal territory for all of its residents.
